Mastering the Mentors’ Role

The presentation titled "Mastering the Mentor’s Role" by Dr. Mrs. Jemima A. Dennis-Antwi provides a detailed overview of a professional mentoring experience in Ghana under the Ministry of Health's 2022 Professional Mentorship Program (PMP). It covers the national policy on mentorship, profiles of mentees, and the structured methods used, which included six sessions over nine months conducted through Zoom, WhatsApp, and phone calls. Mentorship was portrayed as intentional, supportive, and motivational, requiring availability, active listening, and mutual respect. Mentees benefited significantly, gaining knowledge, expanding networks, and receiving both personal and professional guidance. They viewed the mentor as a dependable and nurturing figure, likening her to a mother, and expressed satisfaction with the mentorship process. Challenges were acknowledged, and recommendations were made to enhance future programs. Overall, the experience was impactful, with mentees able to set and pursue meaningful goals through a well-structured, empathetic mentoring approach.
