Mrs Cynthia Dzordzorme
Head of Nursing and Midwifery, Health Training Institutions Unit (HTIU), MOH
Mrs. Cynthia Anyeley Dzordzorme is a Ghanaian professional Nurse/Midwife with over 35 years working experience which spans Nursing practice, Midwifery practice, Intensive Care Nursing, Nursing Education and Management. She is currently the Head of Nursing and Midwifery at the Health Training Institutions Unit (HTIU), Ministry of Health, a position she has held since 2015. In collaboration with the UNFPA, she has carried out monitoring and evaluation in the Health Training Institutions (HTIs) and had been involved in the development and production of several magazines, articles and newsletters. These include the Ghana Midwifery Magazine, Code of conduct for HTIs, review of Nursing and Midwifery curriculum among others. She has also delivered capacity strengthening training for Nursing and Midwifery Tutors at various levels and with different organizations.
In addition, Mrs Dzordzorme heads recruitment teams to conduct interviews to identify qualified Nurses and Midwives for posting as Tutors and serves on various promotion interview panels. She is a holder of Master of Public Health degree from the School of Public Health - University of Ghana, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with Psychology from the School of Nursing- University of Ghana Legon, Post graduate Diploma in Education – University of Cape Coast, Advanced Diploma in Critical Care Nursing and a Certificate in Executive Leadership from Ghana Institute of Public Administration, a certificate in Midwifery and a certificate as a State Registered Nurse.
Prior to her current position, Mrs. Dzordzorme was a tutor at the School of Perioperative and Critical Care Nursing where she served as the programme Head for the Critical Care Nursing programme. She has worked as a practicing midwife and a family planning service provider for decades. She has made immense contributions in to the nursing and midwifery field with tremendous impact on the people she has trained and who she has worked with. She is an ardent lover of children and young people which motivated her to enroll in the children’s Department of her Ministry as a Sunday school teacher. The evidence of her impact in this area is so overwhelming.
