FRANCES GANGES

Frances Ganges is a midwife, and global public health professional with four decades’ experience spanning 30 countries, primarily in Africa. Ms. Ganges is an accomplished leader and strategist and has developed and implemented projects and programs in a variety of settings.
Currently, she is a Senior Maternal Newborn Advisor at Jhpiego, a Johns Hopkins University Affiliate. In this role, she provides leadership and strategic technical guidance in the development and implementation of several global and country programs, while ensuring their quality and alignment with current scientific evidence. Her prior positions include Chief Executive of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM); Scientific Engagement Leader with Johnson and Johnson, for Europe, Middle East, and Africa; Technical Director, White Ribbon Alliance, US; and Senior Newborn Advisor, Save the Children US.
Committed to quality education and training, Ms. Ganges has also contributed to the development of numerous learning resources for health providers; served as a midwifery pre-service educator; and facilitated countless in-service training programs. She also laid the groundwork for a nurse training school in rural Uganda, which recently celebrated 25 years.
Frances Ganges currently serves on the Board of CEHDAR (Ghana), and the Board of Trustees of the American College of Nurse Midwives Foundation (USA). A native New Yorker, Frances has lived in Uganda, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Kenya.
