DR GIFTY EKUA MERDIEMAH
She is a Ghanaian female Nurse/Midwife and Public Health Specialist with over two decades of working experience in the Ghanaian health system. She has honed her skills in reproductive and child health. Currently, she is a research fellow at the Medical and Scientific Research Centre of the University of Ghana Medical Centre. She previously worked as the same as first Deputy Director of Nursing Services of the Women and Children’s Department, where she successfully started and led the department ensuring quality improvement and client satisfaction. She brought her expertise as a Registered Nurse and Midwife to advocate the highest standards of care. She is also actively involved with health promotion activities including breast and cervical screening programs.
Other previous professional experiences include adjunct lecturer positions at Public Health Nursing School, Korle-Bu, and Valley View University, team member of the Maternal and Child Survival Programme (MCSP), a USAID program with Jhpiego Ghana. She was also a Nurse Educator at 37 Military Hospital Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Accra; a Focal Person on HIV/AIDS and PMTCT Services at 3 Medical Reception Station (MRS), Sunyani; Bono Region Midwife, and General Nursing at 37 Military Hospital, Accra.
She is a member of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Ghana Registered Midwives Association, Public Health Nurses Group, and a fellow of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives where she serves as a vice president.
She holds a PhD in Public Health from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. Her research areas are Nursing and midwifery and Reproductive and Child Health and have some publications to her credit.
