Dr. (Mrs) Isabella Sagoe-Moses
Dr. Isabella Sagoe-Moses is a Child Health Specialist with several years of experience working as a clinician and later at the national policy level of the Ghana Health Sector. She is currently the Deputy Director of the Family Health Division of Ghana Health Service, overseeing the Department of Reproductive and Child Health. She is also the focal person for Newborn Health at the national level and chairs the National committee for Newborn health that coordinates the efforts of government and partners to improve newborn survival and health in Ghana. For over 15 years she was the National Child Health Coordinator for the Ghana Health Service.
Dr. Sagoe-Moses has coordinated the development/revision of a number of policy documents and guidelines including the National Child Health Policy and the National Newborn Health Strategy and Action Plan. She has also contributed to several other service policies, protocols and guidelines in Ghana and globally.
Dr. Sagoe-Moses has a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MB ChB) from the University of Ghana Medical School and a Master of Science degree in Tropical Paediatrics from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. She has a special interest in infant and Young Child feeding. As a World Health Organisation trained facilitator for the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness and Infant and Young Child Feeding Courses she has contributed to training several health practitioners in Ghana and other countries.
Dr. Sagoe-Moses is a fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons and a member of the Paediatric Society of Ghana. Dr. Sagoe-Moses has served as a part-time lecturer at the School of Public Health of the University of Ghana. Presently, she lectures part-time at the University Of Ghana Medical School as well as the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.
With a strong passion for improving the health of children, she has been a strong advocate for ensuring that child health issues remain high on the national agenda of Ghana. Due to her desire for the adoption of positive child caring behaviours and practices, Dr. Sagoe-Moses dedicates a significant part of her time to social and behaviour change communication activities.
