DR. JENNIFER A. BOATENG
Dr. Jennifer Akuamoah-Boateng is a pioneering midwife, educator, and global health practitioner whose career spans diverse roles in clinical practice, education, leadership, and global health initiatives. Started as a Registered Midwife in Ghana and then transitioned to academia, notably advancing midwifery education as a lecturer in Ghana and then the UK. She has supported curriculum development, integrating evidence-based practices and modern teaching methodologies. Jennifer has influenced significant policy changes nationally and then globally through her current role.
As the first midwife at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, she leads the midwifery portfolio and is pioneering a midwifery service delivery platform for driving the adoption of high impact innovations with the potential to accelerate the reduction of MMR/NMR/SBR. A member of the WHO’s STAGE Midwifery Subgroup, Jennifer is significantly impacting maternal and child health worldwide.
