Richard Okyere Boadu
Richard Okyere Boadu, PhD, is a lecturer, research and consultancy coordinator at the Department of Health Information Management in University of Cape Coast of Ghana. Prior to his current appointment, he worked with various international NGOs and Ghana Catholic Health Service as Strategic Information Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor.
Dr. Boadu has more than fifteen years of experience in research, strategic management information system, monitoring and evaluation in different health projects (e.g. maternal, children and newborn health, community health service planning (CHPS), malaria and HIV/AIDs). He is experienced in offering technical oversight and strategy in the development and maintenance of monitoring, evaluation and research strategic framework by ensuring incorporation of best practices, new developments, trends and tools to regularly assess organizational performance against M&E standards and development of action plan to address identified gaps.
He possesses several years of experience in mentoring and coaching programme teams and counterparts (e.g. Ghana Health Service, local NGOs, pre-service educational institutions) to develop strategies and action plans to ensure continued monitoring of programme achievement against targets by making sure teams have appropriate systems, tools and skills to conduct monitoring and evaluation activities periodically through follow ups visits. He has extensive knowledge in the application of quality assurance and QI methodology. Besides, he has led the design and implementation of protocols, systems and tools to promote quality routine health information system improvement to the degree that each project could manage and strengthen data management and information use for project partners and counterparts.
Dr. Boadu has been co-principal investigator in several IRB-approved studies in Ghana and served as study staff contributing to research design, tools development, training of data collectors, data analysis and write-up. He has authored and co-authored articles and abstracts for publication and presentations at international conferences. He has a BSc. in Computer Science, an MSc. in Health Services Planning and Management and a PhD in Public Health, all from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana as well as a diploma in Management Information Systems from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. He is also an IHI-trained, certified and practicing Improvement Advisor.
