DR. SARAH NYIRONGO NGOMA (PhD)

Sarah is a registered Nurse/Midwife with more than 34 years of experience as a Nurse and Midwife. Sarah is the current president for the Midwives Association of Zambia (MAZ) and has served on the National Executive Committee of MAZ since the association was registered in 2011. Sarah served on the CONAMA committee as a representative since 2016 but also served on the CONAMA task force that was formed in 2017. She is a member of the ICM council as a MAZ President. Sarah has a strong management background with vast experience in project management Adolescent and sexual reproductive health and general management. A public health practitioner, social and behavioural expert.

Sarah is strong in leadership and governance issues providing strategic direction and technical expertise in organizational performance. She is a health activist and advocates for provision of quality health services and improved conditions for midwives in Zambia. Has held several leadership positions in nurses and midwifery professional associations, trade union and in NGOs. She has led several projects both in midwifery and in USAID funded projects for over 20 years. Sarah has held Board member positions in NGOs and sits on national maternal and newborn health technical working groups.
