Veronica Oduro-Kwarteng is a conscientious Nurse and Midwife with over 28 years’ experience in academia and clinical practice. She is currently a Deputy Chief Health Tutor and the Vice Principal of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Kumasi. She has for the past fifteen years taught at the Kumasi Nursing and Midwifery Training College situated at the premises of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Veronica also provides expertise on part time basis as a lecturer to three institutions including, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology -Kumasi (KNUST), Garden City University College-Kenyasi and Kokofu Nursing and Midwifery Training College. His teaching interest have been in the areas of obstetric nursing; health promotion; paediatric nursing; community-based rehabilitation; medical nursing; midwifery; obstetric anatomy and advanced midwifery and practice.

In the area of clinical practice, Veronica has invested twelve years providing services at various departments of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital-premier facility in Ghana. She has served in capacities as facilitator for Life Saving Skills; coordinator and facilitator for the Ashanti Region Collaborative Preceptor Training for all Nursing and Midwifery Training Colleges and universities offering nursing and midwifery education. She is a member of the West Africa College of Nursing (FWACN,) a fellow of Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (FGCNM) and a member of Ghana Registered Midwives Association.

By qualifications, she holds Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing from the University of Ghana-School of Nursing; Diploma in Education from University of Education Winneba, Ghana); Master degree in Public Health with a focus on Health Services Planning and Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
In addition, she is the 2019 award winner for Marie Goubran “Agent of change” Award”. This award was offered by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) in collaboration with Johnson and Johnson.
